Can intravaginal and intramuscular sensors be used to detect febrile stages in peripartum sows
2026 · IFIP · eng
Postpartum dysgalactia Syndrome (PDS) is characterized by insufficient or absent milk production in sows. Among the various associated clinical signs, fever is one of the main reasons for treatment. Rectal temperature, the reference method, provides only a point measurement and is subject to bias (time, operator, equipment and measurement depth). Intramuscular and intravaginal sensors allow continious temperature monitoring and reduce human intervention. The aim of this study is to evaluate their perfomrance in peripartum sows.
