Le mois de mai a été marqué par une forte variabilité météorologique, avec une première quinzaine froide et humide, suivie à partir du 20 mai d’un épisode de chaleur exceptionnel à l’échelle nationale. Malgré ces contrastes, la température moyenne mensuelle a dépassé les normales de saison d’environ 2 °C sur l’ensemble de la France, tandis que le cumul des précipitations est resté globalement conforme à la moyenne.
